About the Rounders
Emily Rose & the Rounders play music rooted in country tradition and fluent in its lineage, the songs tell the truth, cut deep, and lift you up. Emily Rose Epstein has qualified underground credentials as the former drummer for Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. She formed the
Rounders in 2017 (originally the Blue Rose Rounders) and in 2022, the Rounders released their self-titled debut on Mock Records, drawing from years of Emily's writing. The album moves through grief, regret, lost love and resilience. Completed after the passing of drummer Jordan Edwards in 2021, the record became both a creative milestone and a tribute to his place in the band’s story.
The current line up consists of longtime friends: Vincent Bury on lead guitar, David Fox on bass, Brice Bradley on drums, and Olaf Selland on pedal steel.
Steeped in country essentials out of respect and as a reference, the Rounders built their sound on the genre’s trademarks - a country shuffle, a pedal steel whine and lead guitar that’s a call and response to the lyrics.. The band is playful and skillful, building simple moods and atmospheres that just kinda swing, high and low. Rose embodies commitment and grace. Like every good country songwriter before her, she knows it’s a roll of the dice to get down the line. Rose’s wordplay and emotional storytelling, marks her as an accomplished songwriter, well versed in Jennings and Lynn, John Doe and Exene.
Their 2025 single, “Too Much Too,” reflects on expectation and distance — Was I better from afar / Lonely girl in a cowboy bar — answered by Bury’s aching guitar lines. The accompanying video, directed by Chris Slater, channels the stark romanticism of Paris, Texas. Forged in the haunts and hangs of the Los Angeles country music scene, Emily Rose and the Rounders played the rounds at Grand Ole Echo, Footsies and The Roadhouse — but they also managed to get up and get out. They’ve toured throughout California and Texas and have shared bills with Dale Watson, Southern Culture on the Skids, Dinosaur Jr., Wanda Jackson, Shannon & the Clams, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, and Orville Peck, with whom Rose also performs in his backing band.
We’re living in changing times, and that makes the human moments all the more valuable. A cold beer in a warm hand. A friendly nod across the room. Stumbling two-step dancers. Old boots being shined. You exhale, sway and slip away — that's what a night with Emily Rose & the Rounders feels like: heartfelt, unhurried, and real.
